EUROPEAN JUNIOR
CURLING CHALLENGE (EJCC)
1. World Curling Federation (WCF) rules apply, unless otherwise indicted
below or explained at the Team Meeting (4th January 2005, CC
Taarnby, 11:00 AM).
2. The Junior Women (8 teams) will all be in one group and will play a
single round-robin series. At the end of the round-robin series the team that
is ranked in 1st position will advance to the final game, the teams
ranked 2nd and 3rd will play in a single semi-final game
with the winner advancing to the final game. The winner of the final game will
qualify their Association for the World Junior Curling Championships (WJCC)
2005.
3. The Junior Men (9 teams) will all be in one group and will play a single
round-robin series. At the end of the round-robin series the team that is
ranked in 1st position will advance to the final game, the teams
ranked 2nd and 3rd will play in a single semi-final game
with the winner advancing to the final game. The winner of the final game will
qualify their Association for the World Junior Curling Championships (WJCC)
2005.
4. All games will be eight (8) ends, with extra end(s) to break tied games.
5. There will be a five minute practice for each team before each
round-robin game. The practice starts 15 minutes before the scheduled game
time. Team with last stone in the first end will practice first, followed by
the second team’s practice, the ice will then be cleaned, and the game will
start.
6. Note - ® Indicates last stone in the first end. The Junior Women’s teams must toss
a coin during the Team Meeting to decide which team will have last stone in the
first end of their first game.
7. First named team in each draw plays stones with dark coloured handles,
and should wear dark coloured upper playing garments.
8. For each round of the Junior Men’s round-robin series there is one team
that has a bye (free-time). That team has the option to practice for 60 minutes
(during the scheduled game time of the other teams) on the fifth sheet of ice.
9. The Chief Umpire will determine the schedule and ice for any necessary
tiebreaker games as soon as the number of games required and the opponents have
been determined.
